EDDHA chelated iron is an essential supplement for your plants in aquaponics and bioponics. Iron plays a major role in photosynthesis and cellular respiration in plants. In EDDHA chelated form, it remains available to plants across a wide pH range (4 to 9), making it the reference for closed-loop systems.

Product details

  • 100 g sachet of soluble powder
  • Iron (Fe) 6% water-soluble
  • 4.8% o-o isomer chelated with EDDHA acid
  • Effective across a pH range of 4 to 9

Role in the system

In aquaponics and bioponics, fish and organic fertilisers do not provide enough iron to meet plant needs. Iron deficiency shows as yellowing leaves while veins remain green (iron chlorosis). Regular chelated iron supplementation prevents these symptoms and promotes vigorous growth with lush green foliage.

Benefits

  • High bioavailability: EDDHA chelation keeps iron available even in alkaline conditions
  • Wide pH range: effective from pH 4 to 9, ideal for aquaponics
  • Fish-safe: compatible with aquaponic ecosystems
  • Long-lasting: superior stability compared to EDTA and DTPA chelates
  • Versatile: suitable for aquaponics and bioponics

How to use

Dissolve the powder in a bucket of warm water with other supplements before adding to the growing system. Add approximately a quarter of the sachet (25 g) every 4 weeks from March to October, and every 2 months from October to March. Do not mix directly with calcium chloride. Store in a cool, dry place away from frost.

A 100 g sachet covers approximately 6 months of use for a standard Myfood system.
