Filter Foams – Family Greenhouse (Pack of 4)

This pack of 4 filter foams (2 yellow + 2 blue) provides a complete replacement of the mechanical filtration system for your Family greenhouse radial filter. The dual-density foams work together to retain suspended particles and solid matter at two filtration levels, keeping water clear and healthy for your crops and fish.

Role in the system

The radial filter is the first line of defence in your water circuit. It intercepts solid matter – fish waste in aquaponics, organic debris, uneaten food – before the water reaches the pump and irrigation nozzles. The blue coarse foams capture large particles, while the yellow fine foams trap smaller suspended matter. Together, they ensure clean water circulates through your growing towers, preventing nozzle blockages and maintaining optimal growing conditions.

Maintenance

Clean the foams every 2 weeks by rinsing them in tank water – never use tap water, which would destroy the beneficial bacteria colonising the foam surface. Siphon sediment from the filter using the removable crank handle. Replace the foams when they become permanently deformed, compressed or no longer retain particles despite cleaning. Collect the nutrient-rich sludge from the filter to enrich your permaculture raised beds – it makes an excellent natural fertiliser.
