The lateral shade cloth complements the upper shade cloth by protecting the most sun-exposed side walls of your Myfood greenhouse. In summer, the sun doesn't only hit the roof – it strikes the south and west-facing glass walls with intense direct radiation that can push interior temperatures above 40°C even with the upper cloth deployed. The lateral cloth closes this gap for a truly controlled interior climate. Available in 4 sizes to fit every Myfood greenhouse model.

Why add a lateral cloth?
The upper shade cloth protects the top of the greenhouse, but during summer months the sun angle changes throughout the day: in the morning it strikes the east wall, and from midday onwards it hits the south and west faces with full intensity. This low-angle radiation passes directly through the glass and heats the interior far more than overhead sunlight. Without lateral protection, your greenhouse can overheat even with the upper cloth deployed – particularly dangerous for heat-sensitive crops like lettuce, herbs and leafy greens. The lateral cloth blocks this direct side radiation and can lower interior temperatures by an additional 3 to 5°C compared to the upper cloth alone.

Installation
Position the lateral cloth on the most sun-exposed face of your greenhouse – usually the south or west side, depending on your greenhouse orientation. Install in spring (April-May) when daytime temperatures begin to exceed 25°C. You can move the cloth to a different face as the sun angle changes through the season. Combined with the upper shade cloth, mosquito screens and the misting system, it forms part of the complete summer protection from the Summer Module.
