Why sharpen regularly?

A dull pair of pruning shears crushes stems instead of cutting them cleanly. The cut is uneven, plant tissue is damaged and heals slowly, opening the door to fungal and bacterial diseases. In your Myfood greenhouse, where you regularly prune tomatoes, cucumbers, herbs and small fruit, a perfectly sharp blade is the best prevention against spreading diseases between plants. A few sharpening strokes per month are enough to maintain clean, surgical cuts.

Benefits

  • Preset 22° angle: no guesswork, the tungsten carbide stone reproduces the perfect sharpening angle every time
  • 3 functions in 1: sharpening, deburring and adjustment of your pruning shears in one pocket-sized tool
  • Fast and effective: a few strokes are enough to restore a perfect edge, even on a dull blade
  • Integrated adjustment wrenches: 7 and 8 mm wrenches to tighten and adjust all moving parts of the shears
  • Ultra-compact: 48 g, slips into a pocket or clips onto a gardening apron
  • Lifetime guarantee: a lasting investment for the maintenance of your pruning shears

Sharpening procedure

  1. Clean the blade: remove sap and plant residue with a damp cloth before sharpening
  2. Sharpen with the carbide stone: hold the sharpener against the blade bevel (cutting side) and make 3 to 5 even strokes from base to tip, always in the same direction. The 22° angle is preset, no adjustment needed
  3. Deburr the back of the blade: flip the shears over and pass the flat honing blade along the back of the blade (flat side) to remove the metal burrs created by sharpening
  4. Check adjustment: use the 7 and 8 mm wrenches to check and tighten the centre nut and moving parts if needed
  5. Test the cut: cut a small stem to check sharpness. The cut should be clean and effortless

Recommended frequency: sharpen every 2 to 4 weeks during active growing season, or as soon as you feel the cut becoming less clean.

Compatibility
