Collect rainwater directly from your greenhouse gutters or any outdoor installation with this pack of 2 collectors. Free from carbonates, limescale and chlorine, rainwater is the ideal resource for maintaining a stable pH and low hardness (KH) in your tanks – while reducing your dependence on the reverse osmosis system and mains water. A simple, cost-effective solution that pays for itself within the first season.
Product details
- Pack of 2 rainwater collectors with integrated overflow system
- Gutter mounting with universal clip
- Recommended format for Family greenhouses (11, 15, 22 and 44 m²)
- Also usable without a Myfood greenhouse, on any standard gutter
- 2-year warranty
Role in the system
Water quality is the foundation of a healthy greenhouse ecosystem. Mains water often contains limescale, chlorine and dissolved minerals that increase hardness (KH/GH), destabilise pH and raise electrical conductivity (EC). Rainwater is naturally soft, mineral-free and pH-neutral – exactly what your tanks need. By collecting and using rainwater, you dramatically reduce the need for osmosis filtration, simplify water parameter management and lower your water bills. In aquaponics, soft rainwater also benefits your fish by reducing osmotic stress.
Benefits
- Ideal water quality: limescale-free, chlorine-free, naturally soft – perfect for tanks and crops
- Stable pH: fewer corrections needed compared to hard mains water
- Reduced osmosis dependency: less wear on your RO membrane, fewer filter replacements
- Cost savings: free water from the sky, pays for itself within the first season
- Versatile: works on any standard gutter, with or without a Myfood greenhouse
- Overflow protection: integrated overflow system prevents excess water from entering the greenhouse
How much water do you need?
In peak season (June-August), a Family greenhouse can consume 50 to 100 litres per week through plant evapotranspiration alone. The two collectors capture rainwater efficiently, but storage capacity is key. Myfood recommends a total storage capacity of at least 2,000 litres on your site – supplementing with external tanks (cisterns, IBCs, rain barrels) if needed. Even in regions with moderate rainfall, a 2,000 L reserve can cover several weeks of summer water needs without touching the mains.
Installation
Position each collector under a greenhouse gutter and direct the overflow hose outwards to prevent water infiltration inside during heavy rain. Connect the collector outlet to your storage tanks using standard garden hose fittings. For best results, place the storage tanks on a slightly elevated surface to allow gravity feeding into your greenhouse tanks. Filter the collected rainwater through a fine mesh before adding to your system to remove debris and insects.
Our quality commitments
Rainwater collectors selected for their durability and reliability. Universal gutter mounting compatible with standard gutters. 2-year warranty. Compatible with all Myfood greenhouses (Family) and standalone outdoor use.
