How it works

RCW stands apart from ordinary mulch because it is made from young branches – the part of the tree richest in nutrients, lignin and growth compounds. When laid on the soil surface, white-rot fungi begin breaking it down, creating a web of fungal hyphae that connects to your plant roots via mycorrhizal associations. This process generates stable humus over several months, progressively transforming your substrate into a self-sustaining, nutrient-rich growing medium. The result: less watering, less fertilising and healthier plants.

Usage & dosage

Spread a 3 to 5 cm layer on the surface of your permaculture raised beds – do not dig it in, as surface application is where fungi do their best work. Renew once or twice a year as the layer thins. For optimal soil biology, place a layer of vermicompost directly on the substrate before covering with RCW. The 60 L format is recommended for Family greenhouses with 2 to 4 Perma beds.
