Role in the system

Water temperature directly impacts every aspect of your greenhouse ecosystem. Fish metabolism, feeding behaviour and oxygen consumption all depend on it. Nitrifying bacteria slow down below 10 °C and stop functioning near freezing point. In summer, rising water temperatures reduce dissolved oxygen levels, increasing the risk of fish stress. Accurate, continuous temperature monitoring allows you to anticipate these situations and react in time – by activating heating in winter or improving oxygenation in summer.

When to replace?

Replace the probe when the temperature readings displayed on the myfoodhub dashboard are inconsistent, absent or clearly inaccurate compared to a manual thermometer check. First verify the connections on the sensor unit terminal block and ensure the cable is not damaged before considering a replacement. Temperature probes have no fixed lifespan but can degrade over time due to prolonged submersion and mineral deposits.

Installation tips

Position the probe fully submerged in the tank, away from the heater or water return to avoid localised temperature distortions. After connecting to the terminal block, check that the reading appears correctly on myfoodhub. If the value seems offset, a reset of the sensor unit may be needed.
