Role in the system

The root anchoring foam plays a dual essential role in your vertical growing towers. Its porous structure creates an ideal habitat for beneficial bacteria – in bioponics, these micro-organisms break down organic nutrients from liquid fertilisers into forms directly available to your plants. At the same time, the density of the material provides solid physical support for roots to grip, develop and bear the weight of the growing plant. Without a foam in good condition, roots cannot anchor properly and plants become unstable, especially as they gain weight in summer with fruiting crops like tomatoes and courgettes.

Maintenance and replacement

At the end of each growing season, remove the foam from the tower, pull out the roots and compost the plant residue. A simple rinse with clear water is enough before storage – never use chemicals or tap water with chlorine, which would destroy the beneficial bacterial colonies. The foam can be reused for several consecutive seasons. Replace when it collapses, loses its structure, becomes too compressed or no longer holds plants securely.

Compatibility

Specific format for City greenhouse vertical growing towers (112 cm). For Family greenhouses (11, 15, 22 and 44 m²), use the Family format root anchoring foam (152 cm). The two formats are not interchangeable.
