In summer: heatwave protection
Above 40 °C, crops suffer heat stress that can halt growth, cause flower drop and reduce fruit quality. The upper shade cloth limits direct solar radiation and lowers temperature peaks inside the greenhouse. It also slows tank water evaporation – reducing the frequency of top-ups – and limits algae proliferation by cutting light reaching the water surface. Essential as soon as the greenhouse temperature exceeds 32 °C. For complete summer protection, combine with the lateral shade cloth, mosquito screens and the misting system from the Summer Module.
In winter: thermal insulation
The upper shade cloth has a little-known dual use that makes it a year-round asset. In winter, if you have the LED Lighting Module and/or infrared heater, keep it deployed: it reduces the volume of air to heat by creating a lower ceiling and limits heat loss through the top of the structure. The reduction in natural light is compensated by the horticultural LED lighting. This combination can significantly reduce your heating electricity consumption. Without LED or heating modules, do not deploy it in winter in order to maximise natural light for your crops.

Installation
The upper shade cloth is deployed over the upper walls of the greenhouse using the integrated attachment system. Install in spring (April-May) for summer protection. In winter, keep it deployed only if you have the LED Lighting Module and/or infrared heater. Detailed assembly instructions are provided in the PDF below.
