Role in the system

Regular water testing is the key to a healthy aquaponic system. Nitrites must always be at zero (toxic to fish), nitrates indicate the nitrogen cycle is working, pH governs nutrient uptake, and hardness (GH, KH) reveals the mineral balance of the water. A weekly test helps detect problems before they become critical.

How to use

Dip the strip in the tank water for 2 seconds, then remove without shaking off excess water. For pH, GH, KH and chlorine, read results after 15 seconds. For nitrites and nitrates, wait 60 seconds. Compare the colours with the reference scale on the tube. Test at least once a week, and always after adding a product or changing water.
