Yoyo Retractable Plant Supports – Pack of 10

Yoyo retractable plant supports are the essential accessory for supporting your plants in the vertical growing towers of your Myfood greenhouse. Each Yoyo screws into the wooden greenhouse structure and unwinds a 170 cm retractable wire down to the base of the plant at the bottom of the tower. The spring mechanism automatically adjusts tension as the plant grows, with no intervention needed. It is recommended to install 8 per tank (4 on each side).

Role in the system

In vertical growing, fruiting plants (tomatoes, aubergines, peppers) grow upwards from the bottom of the towers and rapidly gain weight as fruit develops. Without support, stems snap under the weight of fruit or collapse inside the tower. The Yoyo support solves this by keeping the main stem held vertically: it screws into the wooden structure above each tower and the wire runs down to the base of the plant, where it hooks onto the stem. The spring mechanism follows the plant's growth by automatically adjusting the wire length, with no need for manual readjustment.

Which crops to support?

• Tomatoes (essential): tomato plants are the most demanding for support. Each truss significantly weighs down the stem and needs solid support throughout the season
• Aubergines and peppers/chillies (strongly recommended): fruit is heavy and concentrated on relatively thin stems that snap easily without support
• Cucurbits (recommended): cucumbers and small courgettes can be trained vertically for space savings in the towers
• Winter brassicas (useful): cauliflowers, cabbages and broccoli grown in towers during winter develop heavy heads that benefit from extra support

Installation

Screw the Yoyo into the wooden greenhouse structure, directly above the tower containing the plants to support. Unwind the wire down to the base of the plant and hook the clip around the main stem, below the first fork. As the plant grows, the Yoyo automatically retracts excess wire to maintain constant tension.

Compatibility

Compatible with Myfood Family greenhouses. Not compatible with the City. Screws into the wooden structure or hooks onto any fixed support above the plants. Also suitable for permaculture raised beds with a support frame (hoops, stakes).
